Why dual-action

Two receptors. Two ways to change how your body manages weight.

Tirzepatide is the only medication in our lineup that activates both GLP-1 and GIP receptors. The combination has shown greater weight loss than GLP-1 alone in head-to-head trials.

Receptor 1

GLP-1

The same pathway Semaglutide targets. Slows gastric emptying, increases satiety, quiets food noise.

  • Reduces appetite signaling in the hypothalamus
  • Delays stomach emptying so you stay full longer
  • Improves insulin response to meals
Receptor 2 · Additive

GIP

The second pathway only Tirzepatide hits. Modulates fat storage and adds to the GLP-1 effect on appetite.

  • Improves how fat tissue handles excess calories
  • Reduces inflammation in adipose tissue
  • Amplifies GLP-1's appetite-suppression effect
Clinical results

Trial patients lost up to 20.9% of body weight on average.

That's roughly 48 lbs for someone starting at 230. The 15 mg dose produced the strongest results in the SURMOUNT-1 trial.

Common questions

Questions about Tirzepatide.

Is this the same as Mounjaro or Zepbound?
The active ingredient (tirzepatide) is the same. GenWell Rx prescribes compounded tirzepatide prepared by a US-licensed pharmacy. It's not FDA-approved in the same way as branded Mounjaro/Zepbound, but uses FDA-approved active ingredients under physician supervision.
Tirzepatide vs. Semaglutide — which is better for me?
Head-to-head trials (SURMOUNT-1, SURPASS-2) show Tirzepatide produces greater weight loss on average. It's typically recommended for higher weight-loss targets (50+ lb), patients who plateaued on Semaglutide, or anyone wanting maximum clinical effect — at a higher price point.
What side effects should I expect?
Most common: nausea, constipation, reduced appetite, and occasional diarrhea — concentrated in the first 4–8 weeks while titrating. Your nurse helps you manage them. Serious effects are rare and your physician screens for risk factors.
How do I store and inject it?
Refrigerate (36–46°F). Your provider walks you through self-injection at the consult — a small sub-cutaneous injection into the abdomen or thigh. Takes under 30 seconds, once a week.
Can I switch from Semaglutide?
Yes. Your physician will transition you with a starting dose calibrated to your current Semaglutide dose. Many of our patients move to Tirzepatide for the additional GIP benefit.
Who shouldn't take Tirzepatide?
Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, and anyone with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2 syndrome. Severe gastroparesis is also a contraindication. Your provider screens for all contraindications.
